The MDX is Acura’s 7-passenger crossover SUV, and it’s been a consistent best seller for the brand since its introduction in 2001. Like all new Acuras, the MDX does not offer traditional stand-alone options. The 3rd-row seating is tight, and the 2nd row is not outstanding for space or comfort either. The iM is also available with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). Now save your excitement because the iM’s underpowered four-cylinder engine will drain whatever reserves you might have left. Save the manuals! We love that the standard transmission on the Corolla iM is a six-speed shift-it-yourself unit. If it ain’t broke, why fix it? We can think of several reasons: lackluster acceleration, interior cheapness, and rear-seat tightness, all of which still plague the unchanged-for-2018 Corolla iM. Buyers content with its econobox performance will still enjoy the Corolla iM’s combination of cool and cheap. Apart from that, Toyota’s hip hatchback is a one-size-fits-all model with minimal options. These include an aero body kit, a 7.0-inch touchscreen, and active safety tech such as automated emergency braking. Bargain priced, its 137-hp four-cylinder is a snoozer, but what the iM lacks in power it makes up for with its list of standard features. The Corolla iM will catch the eye with its snazzy hatch style, and its affordable price will create a smile.
