Here's the issue, hacks are a programming war between developers and the hack makers. (Or give up and modify the client to always display the information in the first place, which would be kind of sad, but maybe tolerable in some ways.) The fundamental thing is that if you want to defeat hacks which display certain information which the client doesn't normally render, the only really effective technical option in the long run is to have the server not communicate that information to the client until the last moment. I somewhat doubt that's the issue though. I don't imagine that the information about which map tiles occur in the map takes very much data as-is, but if the amount of last-minute communication between the server and client were the problem for shrinking the radius at which the server informs the client about the map, then something like this sort of scheme could work, at a cost of having the game use a bunch more memory - preload two options for each tile and send the client an extra bit of information as the character gets near to determine which needs to be displayed. If the client contains code for determining which map tiles are the right ones (and thus which ones to display), then this code can be used by third parties to figure that out. Limitations: since we need mob info for casual off-screen probing/shooting (as I do with bow), they always would be displayed a bit ahead by HUD. This mode would be on Beta for races, misc events, and once tuned would be pushed in all leagues. We may only have some cases of strange desync when we run into the not-yet-defined wall (pass through) or some cases of stops on the invisible wall if we reach the edge of fully defined zone too soon, before the client get the data and process it and take out the wall and build the new limits.
